Counselling & Psychotherapy

Personal therapy in Twickenham and West London

 Welcome

Our team of therapists provide therapy in the heart of Twickenham, and surrounding areas as well as online.

We provide a safe and relaxing environment for our clients to explore whatever issues they may have.

We see therapy as essentially an exploration of you and your world, which we will undertake together and we will offer you curiosity, compassion, and a gentle challenge along the way. Everyone is unique and so is the work you you will do with us. There is no one size fits all in therapy.

Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak knits up
the o-er wrought heart and bids it break.
— William Shakespeare

So much of what Shakespeare wrote continues to resonate and it is true that talking is a part of how we heal. What is left unsaid and unexplored still has the power to hurt us.

Together we can talk about what is troubling you.

What can counselling & therapy do for you?

We believe in the power of therapy to heal

Are you struggling with any of the following?

  • Depression or Anxiety

  • Neuro divergence

  • Difficult childhood

  • Self-sabotage

  • Addiction

  • Trauma

  • Work-related stress

  • Unfulfilling relationship

These are the areas we commonly work with and specialise in, however you may be facing something different. You may have a particular problem or perhaps you just don’t feel ok, but you’re not sure why.

You may be able to identify current events or relationships that are troubling you, or maybe there are past situations that still affect you; often there is no clear cause.

It may be that you are interested in knowing more about why you behave the way you do. You might want to understand what drives you and why you keep repeating unhelpful patterns of behaviour.

If you have got as far as looking for a therapist then it is time to start the conversation and we are happy to have it with you. Why not find out more about how we offer therapy to address the issues you are experiencing?

Some of the most commonly asked questions

If you are about to make the decision to have therapy then you might be faced with some uncertainty. This is very common and the process of therapy can seem daunting to many. It shouldn’t be, and here are some of the more common areas of doubt that people have.

  • Is there a difference between counselling and therapy?

  • How many sessions would I need to have?

  • Is our work confidential?

If you have any uncertainties then please head over to my FAQ page where I can answer these and many more questions that you might have.

 What happens next?

The first step would be to have a brief conversation or email exchange about the problems you are currently facing.

The next stage is to have an assessment session with Johanna. In this session you can talk about why you are seeking therapy and what you would like to get from it. Johanna will take a brief history and it is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. After this if you want to proceed we will arrange sessions with your preferred therapist if you have one, or work out together who would be the best fit for you.

After this, you and your therapist will meet weekly at an agreed time.

Please get in touch if you would like to take this first step.
