How do I work as a psychotherapist? If you come for sessions with me, you will be in charge of what you talk about; my job is to help you understand your feelings, where they come from and what might change them. I do this by listening and being curious about you. it’s not that I have all the answers, but I can help you find them for yourself. I am an integrative psychotherapist, this means that I have a broad training covering different theoretical schools. Generally I believe that our childhoods make us the adults we are, and understanding this can be the key to changing our understanding of ourselves and moving forward. From this approach I am particularly experienced in working with depression, anxiety, addiction, bereavement, relationship issues and personality disorders.
How long does therapy take? Each session lasts for fifty minutes, and the number of sessions varies from client to client, depending on the issues being dealt with and their impact on you.
Am I a member of a professional body? Yes, I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. You can see my registration details here. The BACP has strict criteria for membership, including, a recognised qualification and adherence to a clear code of ethics.
What are my fees for counselling? Session fees vary , I charge £60 for an appointment in Twickenham, £80 if you wish to see me at my practice at the Woking Priory, Knapill.
I am affiliated with PruHealth, Aviva, Health Assured and Mind Matters.
What happens next? If you would like to try therapy with me, the first step is to make an appointment for an assessment session. In this you can can tell me how you are feeling and what you would like to get out of therapy. It is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to see how you feel about working with me. There is no obligation to continue if you do not wish to.
