Supervision & Reflective Practice

For counsellors, psychotherapists & organisations

Supervision

We offer supervision to other practitioners and Johanna particularly enjoys working with student counsellors in this way. She have done this whilst managing a low-cost counselling agency staffed by students on placement, and as a tutor on a counselling degree course.

Johanna believes that it is the quality of the therapeutic relationship which makes therapy effective, and that supervision is no different. The supervisory relationship needs to be one in which you as a practitioner feel able to bring all aspects of your work, even, or in fact especially the areas you feel you have struggled with. She supervisees to notice and bolster their individual strengths, whilst maintaining awareness of their growing edges.

Johanna’s practice as a therapist is informed primarily by attachment theory and this comes through in her supervision as well.

Please contact Johanna if you would like to find out more about working with her as a supervisor.

Reflective Practice and Group Sessions

Any group of groups of professionals can benefit from time to reflect on their work, and their functioning as a team.

Have you ever wondered why you have a team full of brilliant individuals, who consistently perform at a level below the sum of their parts?

We are born into a group (our family) and we move in and out of different groups through the course of our lives – classrooms, friends, clubs and sports teams, our own families that we create, and of course, our work group. We all bring our unconscious processes to work with us, and a team encompasses the history of everyone in it. Reflective practice sessions can help a team understand the personal dynamics in place and how this affects working relations.

Teams that are involved in stressful or even traumatic work can also benefit from a group space in which to debrief and discuss incidents safely and confidentially.

I work with different staff groups including senior leadership teams in this way and would be happy to discuss the needs of your organisation. Please get in touch with me to find out more about group sessions.
