Summary
This policy explains how, when and why I will collect any personal data from you, and what your rights are with regards to that data. I will only collect personal data that is required to enable me to reply to an enquiry, or that is required when someone becomes a client of mine.
I do not share any data collected with any other party except in cases of emergencies (see below). All data collected is done in accordance with the GDPR regulations in force in the UK. Should you have any queries or concerns about your data you can contact me.

What information do I collect about you?
The personal data collected from you will vary according to whether you are simply browsing the website, making an enquiry or becoming a client.
Browsing the website
If you are simply browsing my website I will not collect any personal data. My site does use cookies (see below).
Emailing or using the contact form
Should you choose to contact me, via email or the contact form or telephone, I will collect minimal personal data to ensure that I am able to respond to your enquiry. This will include your name, telephone number and email address.
Becoming a client
If you choose to become a client of mine, then I will require additional personal data to enable me to fulfil my role as a counsellor/therapist. This may include your name, email address, telephone number, date of birth, gender, race, sexuality, occupation, existing medical conditions, previous history of counselling and session notes.
How do I store your information?
If you become a client, then I will store all of your information on a secure server with ISO27001 certification, 256 bit SSL encryption and two-factor authentication.
Who has access to your data?
I am the only person who will have access to your information, and you may also request access to any data that I have collected about you.
Emergencies
In the event of an emergency, in which I am concerned about your wellbeing, I will talk to you about breaking your confidentiality by informing your next of kin or GP.
Your rights
Your rights allow you to enquire about the personal data of yours that I am storing. It also allows for you to request that this data is deleted. If we work together I will ask you to sign a confidentiality agreement which lays out the details of rights to the information I hold about you.
Cookies
I use cookies on my website. These are small text files that do not record any personal data. Cookies can be split into two categories – essential and non-essential.
Essential cookies are there to ensure that the website can operate as intended and as such these are a part of the website’s functionality.
Non-essential cookies are used on this website to provide me with basic analytic data on the site’s visitors, such as the number of visitors. You can choose to opt out of using these non-essential cookies by not closing the cookie notification pop-up panel. If you close this panel it will be taken as an acceptance of using these non-essential cookies.
